The Hilly 19 is a 19 acre property located in northern Vermillion County, IN. The property is 3 miles northwest of Cayuga and only a half a mile from the Indiana-Illinois state line. This area is well-known for the number of deer in the area; it just might have the highest deer density in the county. The fields in this area are full of deer every night. The south 4 acres of the property has a couple of small structures and a 3 acre open field. There is a 1700 square foot home that is used as a hunting camp, a small detached garage, and a barn. The home is on well and septic. The remaining 15 wooded acres are steep with a lot of nice trees for plenty of stand locations. The deer sign is everywhere in the form of rubs, scrapes, and trails that have been worn down from years of use. The many ridge tops produce a lot of roosting trees for the resident turkeys. The winding creeks and drainages provide plenty of places for the local wildlife to drink. Having the right acres in the right area can be very productive, and this just might be that piece. A nice buck bedded behind the barn was spotted during our initial visit.
